Theron the tyrant

The earliest reference to the Therons dates back to Theron the Tyrant - a Greek tyrant in the town of Acragas in Sicily from 488 BC.  Under the reign of Theron, Acragas with Syracuse and Selinunte (with its pro-Carthaginian line) formed a kind of "triumvirate" which would dominate the Greek Sicily at the time. Theron died in 473 BC and was briefly succeeded by his son Thrasydaeus.
